Zakanthi sits in the middle of Kalamaki, steps from the beach road. What makes it different isn’t the location — it’s what Vlasis and Nikolas built around it: a lush green garden full of handcrafted wooden furniture, old ceramic jars, and bougainvillea that’s been growing for years.
It started as an idea between two friends. More than ten years later, it’s still the same place — just with a few more regulars.
After dinner — or instead of it — the bar is its own reason to stay. Built around a real olive trunk, stone walls, and warm wood, it’s the kind of bar that feels like it grew here naturally. Cold drinks, good company, no rush.
Every week, the garden gets a little louder. We host live jazz sessions under the trees — the kind of evening where you order one more drink and forget what time it is.
Every table, every chair, every corner of this place was built by hand. We didn’t buy a ready-made restaurant — we built one, slowly, over ten years.
Vlasis and Nikolas are here every day. Not in an office somewhere — behind the bar, in the kitchen, at the door. That’s how it’s always been.
