Good food, open skies, and no rush — right in the heart of Kalamaki.
Zakanthi grew out of a simple idea: a lush outdoor space in the heart of Kalamaki, with handcrafted wooden furniture, good food, and no reason to rush.
The garden was always here. We just put some tables in it.
Fresh, local, made from scratch — every day
Zakynthian hiromeri ham, local cheeses, olives, kumquat marmalade — a taste of the island on one board.
Plump shrimps in tomato sauce with Greek feta, fresh oregano and a splash of ouzo. Pure Aegean spirit.
Slow-grilled over fire, served with potato salad and lemon dressing. A Greek classic, done right.
Crisp outside, tender within. Served with fresh fries, mixed salad and lemon dressing.
Mussels, shrimps, squid and cherry tomatoes tossed with gremolata. The sea in a bowl.
Crispy rusk, vanilla cream, pistachios and whipped cream. Our take on the island’s beloved sweet.
Vlasis and Nikolas have been running Zakanthi for over ten years. What started as a shared idea turned into one of Kalamaki’s favourite spots — a place built on good food, genuine hospitality, and a friendship that shows in every detail.
We’re open every day through the season. Walk-ins are always welcome — but if you want a table in the garden on a summer evening, it’s worth calling ahead.
Fresh plates, open skies, and a garden full of life
Some evenings stay with you. Here’s what people remember.
EXCELLENT Based on 702 reviews Posted on Google Ellie Bissett WaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We ate here two nights of our 7 night stay and both experiences were wonderful. The lovely lady at the door is so welcoming and nice and chatty with everyone that she seats. The rest of the staff were also really friendly and attentive especially the lovely blonde lady who is so bubbly she makes everyone smile. As for the food we really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to anyone.Posted on Google Andrew BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is certainly one of the best and classiest of all the restaurants in the area. From the moment you step down to the entrance you are looked after. Great service team who know how to greet and entertain. Set back from the road in a sunken garden it stands out as the most tranquil dining experience. The menu is excellent. A good variety of dishes. The service was very good. We visited twice within the week we stayed and the service and standards were consistent across both visits. Perhaps the banoffee ( which was my favourite dish ) was a little inconsistent in proportions but al in all very good. A Friendly and it appears a family team who were attentive even when pressured by a full restaurant. We were certainly never pressured to finish. A very relaxing experience made all the more enjoyable by the pleasant music and tradition dancing. Great venue, if you’re in the area don’t miss the opportunity to try this restaurant.Posted on Google Kevin DingleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Another good restaurant, this one is different from the rest on the main street because it is set well from the road.Posted on Google chloe sTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The food was very tasty and the setting was beautiful but the service was so incredibly slow. By the time the food came out it was so late that I wasn’t very hungry anymore. The restaurant was not particularly busy either. Looking at the other reviews this seems to be common.Posted on Google Marius PeerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. most beautiful place in whole Kalamari to have your dinner! Sitting in a nice garden and enjoying a superb meal. We came there several times: good staff, good food and good feelings😋Posted on Google Manca RajhTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful dinner in a beautiful candlelit atmosphere, accompanied by live music that made the evening even more special. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the forest mushroom risotto – easily the best one I've had in years. It was perfectly cooked, with a rich, creamy texture and an excellent balance between the al dente rice and the mushrooms. The flavours were outstanding. The cocktails were equally impressive, well balanced and expertly prepared. A special mention goes to the staff, who were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the evening. They truly made us feel welcome and contributed to a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
